Our Impact

Having witnessed how TAPC unifies individuals in otherwise isolating situations has been incredibly inspiring, and has allowed me to feel more confident in my advocacy regarding my disease.

Events

Graduates Holding Diplomas

Take a Pain Check Scholarship Program

Available to students in Canada who live with rheumatic conditions pursuing greater learning. Alongside the scholarships, we will soon be announcing workshop opportunities for students.

Light it Blue

An annual global event where we light major landmarks Blue in support of World yOung Rheumatic Diseases (WORD) Day. An annual event occurring in March. Including landmarks in Toronto, Australia Philadelphia, and many more.

Unity Through Rheumatic Disease In Person Event

A one-day in person event held in Toronto for youth and young people with rheumatic conditions to connect and learn.

Joint Chat Rheum

A monthly online supportive discussion for youth and young people with rheumatic conditions. Run by one of our youth ambassadors, the next cohort begins in May 2026.

Programs

Youth Lived Experience Advisory Board (YLEAB)

This board emphasizes strategy, leadership, collaboration, and advocacy, with participants leading one major project over several months.

Youth and Young Adult Ambassador Program

This program focuses on content creation, social media, community outreach, and raising awareness. A great fit for those passionate about marketing and advocacy.

Health Care Professional Ambassador Program

Gain new skills, share our resources with patients, share research opportunities, share your expertise, and learn with us. We also offer letters of support. 

Backpack Program

We collaborated with Arthritis Society Canada to create our teen backpack. With the help of Matt & Nat, we designed all elements of this backpack to suit the needs of teens with arthritis.

We have resources on accommodations, dental health, highschool tips and tricks and much more. All of our resources are developed by or with youth with rheumatic conditions. Go here to look at all of our available and original resources!

Conferences

Take a Pain Check actively participates in conferences, sharing insights and advocating for young people affected by arthritis. Through presentations, discussions, and more, our team collaborates with healthcare professionals, researchers, and advocates to drive awareness, inspire support, and influence change for the arthritis community.

Take a Pain Check has collaborated with other organizations, been featured in news articles, has had a CBC documentary about our beginnings, and shared our mission to raise awareness about arthritis in youth. Our media presence highlights inspiring stories, expert insights, and ongoing advocacy efforts, amplifying our impact and connecting with a global community.
